Our client, based in Surrey, BC, is a leading manufacturer and distributor of aerospace components to the largest aerospace/aviation companies globally.


Due to their rapid growth, we're actively assisting them in hiring a Mechanical Designer who will work intimately with the Engineering department and report directly to the Director of Engineering.


Responsibilities

  • Developing and designing new hydromechanical and electromechanical products.
  • Updating and refining existing hydromechanical and electromechanical products.
  • Working closely with mechanical, electrical, electronics, and software team members to create integrated product solutions.
  • Work closely with Production to review existing manufacturing processes and raise suggestions for optimizing the manufacturability of products and address production issues.
  • Design, develop, and improve manufacturing tooling and test fixtures.
  • Assist in the development of test plans and procedures that will demonstrate how our products meet their design criteria.
  • Assist in the creation of product documentation including technical illustrations.
  • Utilize specialized software to improve part manufacturability to reduce cost.
  • Assist with manufacturing and assembling physical prototype components for evaluation and testing.
  • Troubleshooting problems with in-service products and completing root cause analysis of failures.
  • Assist Procurement in monitoring and evaluating supplier capabilities and performance.
  • Other duties assigned by the Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering.


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience with CAD Design using SOLIDWORKS
  • Exposure to SOLIDWORKS PDM is preferred
  • Experience designing small components/products within a manufacturing environment
  • Have adhered to Engineering industry standards such as ASTM
  • Basic hands-on mechanical competencies (Using a drill, turning a wrench, etc...)
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects simultaneously
