About You:

You will ensure compliance with all relevant privacy laws and regulations, develop and implement privacy policies and procedures, and train employees on privacy matters. The Specialist will report directly to the Senior Compliance Manager and work with other stakeholders to develop and implement effective privacy strategies.

In this role, you'll get to experience:

  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes related to privacy and data protection and guide the company on any potential impact on our operations.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure privacy is integrated into new projects, initiatives, and products.
  • Conduct privacy assessments and risk assessments to identify potential risks and provide recommendations for remediation.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and IT teams to develop and maintain a comprehensive privacy program.
  • Respond to privacy-related inquiries and complaints from clients, employees, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and deliver privacy training to employees and ensure that privacy awareness is integrated into the company culture.
  • Investigate privacy incidents and guide appropriate remediation measures.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and guide business units on privacy-related matters.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of data protection impact assessments (DPIAs)
  • Stay current on emerging privacy and data protection trends and technologies and evaluate their impact on the organization.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. law, business, information technology, etc.)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in privacy or data protection, preferably in the insurance or financial services industry
  • Strong knowledge of relevant privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex privacy concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification
  • Experience with privacy risk assessments, incident response procedures, and training and awareness programs is a plus
