Corrosion Field Support Engineer
ICE Dragon Corrosion Inc. specializes in the design of corrosion protection systems and the development of Corrosion Management Plans (CMPs) for multi-sector clients.
ICE was founded in 2016; we care about people, diversity of thought, excellence, purpose-driven work and have a can-do spirit. We are frequently on-site with hands-on assessments to diagnose concerns both at the physical asset and enterprise level. We work closely with our client teams, so they can strategically adopt corrosion best practices and technology to reduce the associated business risks in their operations.
You will be implementing a Corrosion Field Support (2024-06-CR01) program for a long-standing ICE client with full support from our central team in Ottawa. Homebase for these roles will be onsite with our client with occasional travel to Ottawa / Toronto as required. Your mandate will include the following:
- You will introduce the program and your role to the many field stakeholders and ramp up the uptake of the program services.
- You will have an authoritative, confident, approachable and friendly demeanor with ability to communicate effectively and frequently with all types of people (from leadership to field personnel).
- You will be able to quickly build rapport and trust with many stakeholders in a complex organisational structure.
- Your actions and positive attitude will support a proactive maintenance culture through coaching and oversight.
- You will be well-organised, have excellent follow-through and accountability, solid time management and able to accurately follow processes and provide reliable reporting.
- You prefer to be in the field for most of the workday, being physically active, working shoulder to shoulder with the client teams on practical activities (time split will be approx. 80% field vs. 20% office/reporting).
- You have the confidence to work autonomously but know when to ask for help and pull in your wider team.
- You will provide onsite support to client in the field for corrosion audits, husbandry maintenance items, and common defect issues.
- You will support the client with practical corrosion, painting and husbandry knowledge and coaching on basic maintenance tasks (training will be provided).
- You will be the link between the site and the central Corrosion Program, communicating data and feedback and requests with the Program Coordinator
Qualifications and requirements for position
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree in materials or chemical engineering
- Related AMPP coating inspector qualifications strongly preferred (AMPP CIP Level 1 / 2, AMPP CP 2, other).
- Position requires you to have field experience (reliability, condition monitoring, NDT, inspections, coating inspection).
- Strong project management of multiple, concurrent activities and stakeholder requirements.
- Mature, professional with strong verbal communication and coaching skills. Fluent English required. French is an asset.
- Ability to rapidly gain knowledge as training is provided and program requirements evolve.
Base wage starts at $80,000 will depend on experience. A 10% bonus will be offered based on the annual performance of the company and your personal performance. We offer health benefits, flexible work arrangements, minimum of 15 days PTO, training, and high levels of autonomy. ICE is committed to sustainable business practices and a people-centric policy.
