About the Role
On behalf of our client in the Pharmacy industry, Astek Canada is seeking a motivated Data Analyst ready to take on new challenges.
Your Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Performing cancer genomic data analyses with and without associated clinical data.
- Fielding requests for data, communicating with internal and external partners, making data available internally for broader accessibility across the organization, metrics tracking.
- Identifying opportunities to leverage genomic data to support research and development activities.
- Communicating with collaborators to track usage of data in oncology R&D.
- Working collaboratively to develop and maintain tools and resources for program workflows and data analyses (e.g. reference materials, analysis tools, interactive apps).
- Scheduling and leading meetings among stakeholders.
- Developing and distributing or presenting educational material to internal and external stakeholders.
Your Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Master's degree in genomics, molecular biology, cancer biology, bioinformatics, epidemiology, or equivalent.
- 2 years of work experience -or- PhD in genomics, molecular biology, cancer biology, bioinformatics, epidemiology, or equivalent.
Key Skills:
- Cancer biology, cancer genomics, or cancer epidemiology background.
- Experience working with real-world data (e.g. electronic health records, claims data).
- Computational bioinformatics skills, proficient in R or Python.
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Good collaborator with excellent communication skills.
Desired skills:
- Experience analyzing large genomic datasets (targeted DNA, RNAseq, whole exome).
- Experience with data visualization and/or data management.
- Familiarity with public and/or private genomic data resources (e.g. TCGA, cBioPortal, GENIE, etc.).
Personal Qualities:

- Autonomy and rigor in managing priorities.
