Our client is seeking a Network Cabling Specialist with strong expertise in Visio to document network and fiber cabling layouts accurately. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in data center operations, structured cabling, and network infrastructure.

This role involves planning, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cabling systems to ensure seamless and scalable technology integrations.

Location: Onsite - Ottawa

Duration: 6 months + 6 months ext

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize Visio to document and design network and fiber cabling layouts accurately.
  • Interpret and analyze network infrastructure diagrams to ensure correct implementation.
  • Perform hands-on cabling installations, maintenance, and troubleshooting within data centers and other facilities.
  • Implement and maintain structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Work closely with network engineers and technology teams to integrate cabling solutions into the infrastructure.
  • Handle supplies, installations, and maintenance of cabling and related hardware.
  • Support Break/Fix maintenance to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
  • Conduct testing and certification of installed cabling to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Maintain compliance with industry safety standards and best practices.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of experience in network cabling and infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio for documenting network and cabling layouts.
  • Hands-on experience in data center environments, including installations and maintenance.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA, BICSI, etc.).
  • Familiarity with network infrastructure components, including routers, switches, racks, patch panels, and cable management.
  • Experience with fiber optics, copper cabling, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Ability to handle Break/Fix maintenance efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certifications such as BICSI, RCDD, or equivalent.
  • Experience working with large-scale technology integration projects.
  • Familiarity with low-voltage cabling, security systems, or AV cabling.
  • Knowledge of network configuration and IT infrastructure.
