Job responsibilities

  • Review and understand project drawings, scope of work, and contractual obligations to effectively manage construction operations.
  • Site Management & Housekeeping – Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site by ensuring proper housekeeping, waste management, and recycling efforts (e.g., returning scrap steel to reclaiming facilities and minimizing landfill waste).
  • Project Scheduling – Track and manage the project schedule (initial schedule loaded into Sitemax by the Project Manager). Oversee subcontractor performance, ensuring compliance with the timeline, and collaborate with the PM for schedule updates.
  • Budget Oversight – Monitor project costs, identify opportunities to reduce expenses, and enhance value without compromising quality or safety.
  • Change Management – Obtain written client approval before proceeding with any additional work beyond the original scope, whether client-requested or identified during construction.
  • Drawing & Documentation Updates – Maintain updated project drawings, both printed and in Sitemax, with necessary markups.
  • Shop Drawing Review – Evaluate shop drawings and provide relevant feedback to the Project Manager.
  • On-Site Coordination – Direct and manage suppliers and subcontractors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Safety Compliance – Enforce all Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Invoice Approvals – Review and approve all invoices within two days of receipt for accounting purposes.
  • Daily Reporting – Complete daily logs in Sitemax, including manpower tracking, timecards, site photos (with descriptions), and relevant notes.
  • Personnel Management – Hire, supervise, and direct all on-site personnel while adhering to applicable union agreements.
  • Worker Training & Certification – Ensure all workers on-site are fully trained and competent. No worker should begin work without valid WHMIS and Working at Heights training. Certificates must be submitted to Project Management Support for record-keeping in Sitemax under "Records."
  • Safety Board Maintenance – Ensure all required safety information is displayed on the site Safety Board. If no job trailer is available, keep all essential documents accessible in the provided safety kit.
