We are seeking a skilled Miller & Finishing Woodworker to join our team. This role requires expertise in setting up and operating woodworking machinery, optimizing materials for efficiency, and producing high-quality wood components. The ideal candidate will have experience in both milling and finishing, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of craftsmanship.

Primary Responsibilities

Milling & Preparation:

  • Review daily work schedules, identify rush orders, and create cut lists based on shop drawings.
  • Set up and operate radial arm saws, jointers, presses, clamp carriers, rip saws, and table saws.
  • Optimize material usage to maximize yield and minimize waste.

Quality Control & Finishing:

  • Inspect all products for defects and ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Sand and prepare doors and frames before staining.
  • Apply wiping stains, sealers, and varnishes, sanding between coats for a high-quality finish.
  • Provide custom color samples as per customer requirements and log color mixes.

General Production & Maintenance:

  • Ensure equipment is properly maintained and in good working order.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment to uphold safety and efficiency standards.
  • Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate workflow.

Qualifications & Skills Required

  • Experience using woodworking machinery, including radial arm saws, jointers, presses, and rip saws.
  • Strong knowledge of wood finishing techniques, stains, and varnishes.
  • High attention to detail and precision to ensure quality craftsmanship.
  • Physical stamina to lift up to 65 lbs and manage a physically demanding workload.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and make adjustments to machinery as needed.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating with team members to ensure efficiency.

Measures of Success

  • Material Efficiency: Minimize material wastage and optimize production yield.
  • Quality Production: Consistently produce work of high precision, meeting customer specifications with no defects.
  • Adherence to Standards: Maintain compliance with Brenlo's operational and safety standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Keep shop equipment in proper working condition to ensure efficiency.
  • Timeliness & Productivity: Complete tasks within expected timelines, meeting production goals.
  • Problem Solving: Quickly identify and resolve quality or production issues.
  • Reliability: Maintain an excellent attendance record and work with consistency.
  • Communication & Teamwork: Respectfully and effectively communicate with team members to ensure smooth workflow.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time, permanent position (up to 44 hours per week).
  • Monday to Thursday: 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Friday: 6:00 AM – 12:00 PM
