This position is part of the Connect 6ix project. Toronto's new Ontario Line subway is now under construction. The Connect 6ix consortium has a key role in this project, delivering the trains, the signaling system, and the operations, storage, and maintenance facility. Connect 6ix will also operate the Ontario Line for a 30-year term once it comes into service.

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced Civil/Structural Buildings Coordinator to join our Contractor Construction team. In this role, you will coordinate the civil and structural components of a complex rail maintenance facility projectthe buildings of the Operation Maintenance and Storage Facility (OMSF) of the Ontario Line project. This project involves a large rail steel-framed structure on a slab-on-grade foundation, necessitating precise coordination of design, construction, and adherence to rail-specific standards. Additionally, the project requires the implementation of a Support of Excavation (SOE) system to ensure stability during construction. Furthermore, a combined cladding system will be utilized to enhance the building's exterior performance and aesthetics. You will serve as the key liaison between engineers, sub-contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Managing administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings, invoicing, preparing documents, preparing reports and organizing files
  • Provide technical support for design, planning, and construction.
  • Preparing reports.
  • Oversee civil/structural design, ensuring alignment with project specifications, be familiar with and Building building codes.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Review steel fabrication drawings, foundation plans, and slab-on-grade details for accuracy and constructability.

Coordination & Collaboration:

  • Lead coordination between design team, sub contractors, and architects.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, and design changes, proactively resolving conflicts proactively.
  • Collaborate with MEP teams to integrate utilities into structural systems.

Site Management:

  • Monitor progress including preparing records, ensuring compliance with schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor steel erection, foundation work, and safety compliance with safety protocols (OSHA/company processes).
  • Verify material quality (e.g., steel, concrete) and oversee testing procedures.

Project Execution:

  • Support Coordinate procurement and subcontractor coordination for timely delivery of materials and servicesmaterial and service delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate risks (e.g., geotechnical challenges, schedule delays) and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain detailed documentation, including progress reports and redline/as-built drawings.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
  • Experience 2 to 3 years of experience in civil/structural coordination, with proven experience in a coordination role within the construction industry, preferably in steel structures, concrete works and rail/transportation projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio) and other relevant software applications
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent Strong communication including verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Experience with LEED building construction
  • Valid G license
