Job Description

The House of Commons' Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms and Corporate Security is currently looking to staff the Advisor, Policy and Planning position.

As the Advisor, Policy and Planning you work closely with the management team of the Sergeant-at-Arms's office in order to align on organizational priorities and subsequent actions. You, along with the Manager, Policy and Planning, support the Sergeant-at-Arms by providing briefing notes and analysis regarding the business transformation initiatives, as well as updates on the project teams and working groups.

Within this role, you are the coordinator of numerous initiatives, activities, and events. You utilize your knowledge of best practice and research to support your recommendations. You work closely with many project team and external stakeholders to create customized reports and update policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education :

  • Successful university graduation with a degree in management science, business administration or another relevant field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and training.

Experiences :

  • Experience in developing recommendations and drafting policy and briefing notes while managing the consultations with the different stakeholders;
  • Proven experience in strategic and corporate planning, with a strong ability to deliver long-term business plans and implement strategies that achieve key objectives for a diverse suite of services;.
  • Experience in leading project teams and work groups.
  • Experience in the evaluation of business processes to provide advice and guidance on program/project planning;
  • Experience in the application of methods and techniques in the areas of process analysis, mapping and flowcharting.

Assets :

  • Business Improvement Certification (for example but not limited to: Lean, Six Sigma…).
