The Ontario Sewer and Watermain Construction Association (OSWCA) and Greater Toronto Sewer and Watermain Contractors (GTSWCA) collectively represents over 800 member companies and over 35,000 skilled workers across Ontario who build infrastructure.
The Role:
The Digital Marketing and Communications Specialist supports the Associations' overall communications strategy and execution.
The successful candidate will develop communications and marketing material for the Associations' websites, social media channels, digital campaigns, as well as other more traditional communications processes as required. This may include the creation of digital ads, social media content, basic communications copy, and other strategic priorities. The ideal candidate has a strong appreciation for visual storytelling and the fundamentals of graphic design. Having skills in basic video, photo, and audio editing would be seen as valuable assets.
The Social Media and Digital Communications Specialist will report to the Executive Director, while offering support to each of the Associations' departments and their respective Boards of Directors (BoDs).
Key Responsibilities:
Marketing / Communications
- Plan, develop, and implement digital strategies including social media content.
- Write, edit, and produce a range of digital communications products.
- Develop and manage social media, graphic design, video production and post production, marketing, and web content.
- Edit written materials to be posted online.
- Support Association events through marketing material development.
- Manage overall use of email marketing platform, providing support with templates to ensure a consistent look and feel for all email communications.
- Distribute weekly member newsletters, working closely with staff on content.
Social media
- Plan, develop, coordinate, deliver and evaluate content for social media platforms.
- Develop visual assets (e.g. photography, video) for social media.
- Design and create content for social media, web and digital screens.
- Manage and engage Associations' social media accounts, ensuring they are updated regularly with relevant and appropriate content.
Internal communications
- Support Association staff with presentation and material content development.
- Develop reporting process to BoDs for communications updates.
- Create and manage appropriate reporting metrics for websites and social media accounts, making and implementing recommendations to improve the member experience.
Website Management
- Manage upload of all material, including press releases, publications, reports, member updates, etc. to the websites.
- Work together with Association staff to ensure timely and accurate updates are being made to the websites.
- Work with digital agency/developer to further develop Associations' website functionality to maximise engagement and user experience.
Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Marketing, Media, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 1+ years of experience in a related role.
- Experience writing, editing, and producing strategic digital communications, with specific expertise in social media.
- Experience with graphic design and content development.
- Proficiency with digital design software (e.g. Adobe Animate, Photoshop, and Google Web Designer).
- Strong organization skills with the ability to muti-task, work independently, exercise judgement, and deliver measurable results within prescribed time limits.
- Experience with WordPress an asset.
- Experience with video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro) an asset.
- Photography or videography background an asset.
