Position: Inventory Planner/ Buyer

Reporting to: Senior Manager Purchasing & Inventory

Location: Statesman, Mississauga

Who We Are: Carrier Enterprise Canada (CEC) is a national distributor of residential and light commercial Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration products, parts and supplies through licensed HVAC/R dealers and contractors. CE operates primarily in the business-to-business environment where its products are sold through licensed HVAC dealers and HVAC contractors. These dealers are independent companies that sell, deliver and service Carrier, Bryant & Payne products to residences and businesses in their respective markets. CEC offers customers a wide range of HVAC/R product lines, competitive pricing, best-in-class customer service and valuable, time-saving services that positions CEC as an industry leader. With 36 locations in Canada and over 150+ locations, in 28 states, Puerto Rico, the Caribbean, Latin America, Mexico, there is a location to service our customers HVAC/R needs.

We are currently accepting internal and external applications for the Inventory Planner/ Buyer.

The Opportunity:

  • Develop and implement inventory planning strategies to optimize stock levels and align with sales forecasts and customer demand.
  • Conduct demand forecasting and analysis leveraging historical sales data, market trends and input from the sales team.
  • Monitor inventory levels, identifying potential stockouts or excess inventory, and take proactive action to mitigate risks.
  • Optimize inventory replenishment processes, including reorder points, safety stock levels and economic order quantities to achieve service goals.
  • Learn, use, and maintain Blue Ridge System as the primary inventory forecasting and replenishment tool.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing and Finance to understand demand drivers and modify Blue Ridge system Forecast values to meet service level KPIs.
  • Analyze and assess inventory performance metrics, such as stock turnover, fill rate, and carrying costs to identify areas for improvement.
  • Coordinate with sales and operations teams to understand product lifecycles, new product launches, and promotional activities that may impact demand and inventory requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to enhance vendor performance, reduce Non Productive/ Slow inventory and address any supply chain issues.
  • Coordinate cross-functional reviews to reconcile performance variances and refine forecasts to reflect updated sales and marketing input.
  • Optimize system data such as forecasting, lead time and other demand drivers to ensure inventory replenishment is aligned to achieve service goals.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of supply within the network to meet service objectives and demand patterns by optimizing purchases and/or initiating transfers, as necessary.
  • Provide input to our Vendor management team to develop inventory strategies on product introductions, existing slow items, and product phase-outs.
  • Interact with our Blue Ridge Support team to continually enhance knowledge of system updates settings/configurations on new functionality.

Skills and Behaviors

  • Minimum 3 to 4 years of Demand Planning, Inventory Management and Purchasing experience.
  • Post-secondary education in a technical or business discipline.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, dedicated to customer service.
  • Able to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast pace environment.
  • Strong in database management methods and tools, MS Access, MS Excel, BI.
  • Proficiency with Blue Ridge Planning Software would be an asset.
  • Team player and customer focused individual.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
