My client, an established consulting engineering firm, seeks a dynamic and motivated Water Resources Engineer to join its land development team in Barrie, Ontario.

You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing solutions for water resources projects, including stormwater management, flood risk assessment, and water distribution systems. You will work with a talented team of professionals and contribute to projects that enhance community resilience, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.

What will you do:

  • Develop and implement water resources management solutions, including hydrological modelling, stormwater management design, floodplain mapping, and erosion control for land development projects.
  • Participate in stormwater management design, including storage systems, LID design, storm sewer design, and hydraulic grade line analysis.
  • Led and supported projects from initial planning to completion, ensuring all project deliverables were on time and within budget.
  • Utilize CAD for stormwater management design; proficient in Civil 3D.
  • Assist in permitting, bid/proposal preparation, and professional presentations.
  • Work closely with internal teams, clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of local regulations, environmental considerations, and engineering best practices to address complex water resources challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing technical expertise and addressing client needs.
  • Conduct site assessments, data collection, and field investigations as required for project design and evaluation.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of learning and development.

What do you bring to the role:

  • Civil or Environmental Engineering degree
  • 3+ years experience in all aspects of water resources engineering.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer, or E.I.T., in the Province of Ontario;
  • Skilled in using XP SWMM, SewerGEMS, PC SWMM, StormCAD, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and ESRI's ARC Map.
  • Experienced in stormwater management, permitting, and water distribution design (WaterGems, InfoWater, WaterCad).
  • Knowledge of the agency requirements and approval process during draft plan and detailed design project stages related to servicing and stormwater management design requirements.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages.
