Matchtech are supporting a key client in the railway industry to recruit for a Project Controls Director, this role is a permanent positions based in Toronto.


The Project Controls Director is responsible for providing leadership and direction for Project Offices relating to governance, risk, assurance, and reporting functions across the asset life cycle. The role involves establishing and maintaining a practical Project Control function, including the development and delivery of associated governance, risk, assurance, and reporting frameworks, systems, tools, and processes required to oversee projects.


Key Accountabilities:

Model Good Leadership:

  • Inspire people, drive change, and deliver results.
  • Guide and lead a team of technical experts.
  • Provide necessary training and direction to support customer-focused change strategies, programs, and initiatives in governance, risk assurance, systems, and processes.

Oversee and Monitor Program of Works:

  • Ensure compliance with client assurance frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Continuously improve business systems and processes.
  • Deliver an effective assessment, monitoring, review, and benefits realization process throughout the project lifecycle.

Effective Project and Contract Management Systems:

  • Develop and maintain relevant project and contract management electronic systems.
  • Integrate the needs of project and contract managers across management and reporting platforms.

Establish Divisional Governance Frameworks:

  • Provide an impetus for change across the portfolio by integrating systems, practices, and procedures into the frameworks.

Risk, Safety, and Audit Management:

  • Lead the development and implementation of risk, safety, and audit management systems and processes.
  • Establish a Safety Management System (SMS) and divisional systems to comply with the Corporate Risk Management System and internal and external audit and compliance actions.
