We are seeking an adept professional to fill the Technical Manager role. This position demands expertise in Java, Spring Boot, SQL, and ITIL/ITSM.


The chosen candidate will be based at our technology center in Markham, Ontario. We anticipate the ideal candidate to be a skilled full-stack Java developer with exceptional technical acumen, proficient team leadership capabilities, and the ability to effectively engage with senior management.


Primary responsibilities involve hands-on leadership of an agile team, focusing on delivering small enhancements and fixes, enhancing system performance and scalability, and supervising an L2 production support team. Additionally, availability for after-hours escalation is required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute full lifecycle application development.
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot software.
  • Perform software analysis, risk assessment, and reliability evaluation.
  • Provide mentorship to enhance the technical and interpersonal skills of team members.
  • Manage cross-team communication and task prioritization.
  • Contribute to software design, architecture discussions, prototyping, and development estimations.
  • Integrate new software solutions with existing client systems.
  • Participate in client requirements and scrum team discussions.
  • Offer support for production with expertise in ITIL and ITSM.
  • Provide assistance in functional/system integration testing and deployment.


Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 years of web-based application development experience.
  • At least 5 years of Java/J2EE development experience.
  • Previous senior developer experience with technical team leadership responsibilities in an agile environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency as a full-stack developer.
  • Strong skills in Spring (MVC, Core, and IOC), Hibernate, Struts, JSF, NodeJs, and Linux.
  • Experience with Apache Tomcat, Weblogic, and TomEE.
  • Proficiency in SOAP/REST-based web services using XML/JSON.
  • Familiarity with AWS cloud technologies, including API Gateway, Lambda, SQS, ECS, NoSQL, S3, cloud deployment tools (Cloud Formation), and container orchestration (e.g., Docker).
  • Proficient in SQL with working knowledge of Oracle.
  • Self-motivated with effective task prioritization and execution skills in high-pressure environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Advantageous to have experience with Agile, TDD, and BDD.
  • Desirable to have previous experience in the airline domain, particularly in crew management/service area.
