The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for taking charge of the month-end process, managing cash flow, implementing controls, participating in the annual budget and forecast process, and participating in the Finance department's various transformation projects.

Here are the specific responsibilities that await you:


Financial Management

  • Manage and oversee all financial activities related to the month-end process, while handling cash flows and supervising/completing the daily preparation of bank reconciliations.
  • Perform account analyses for the income statement and balance sheet on a monthly basis and provide related explanations.
  • Compile and enter month-end journal entries.
  • Control and ensure adequate validation of fund disbursements. The candidate will work closely with the accounts payable team to ensure payment deadlines are met, expenses are properly allocated, and capital expenditure programs are well managed.
  • Supervise the preparation of monthly government remittances (GST and QST).
  • Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure that accounting activities related to payroll processes are compliant.
  • Act as a liaison with banks to maintain and update the financial platforms used by the company.
  • Contribute to the budget process by preparing and conducting analyses related to the annual budgeting cycle.
  • Analyze and interpret operational and accounting data to explain cash flow variations and trends compared to previous periods, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Participate in special projects and respond to ad-hoc requests from the management team.
  • Analyze, validate, and document any changes or new processes using the reporting system.
  • Participate in the external audit process.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and policies, proposing corrective measures when necessary.
  • Suggest and collaborate with the team to establish and support best practices, particularly for internal and administrative control processes.

Treasury Management

  • Responsible for cash management and banking models.
  • Manage financial risk (liquidity, interest rates, operations, etc.).
  • Calculate ratios and fulfill all banking or regulatory requirements, providing the necessary information to stakeholders.
  • Oversee liquidity management and work toward optimizing cash outflows.
  • Involvement in managing the company’s investment activities and decision-making process.
  • Implement a cash management process based on forecasting.
  • Collaborate with the FP&A lead to align cash flow forecasts with financial forecasts and results.

Consolidation and External Reporting

  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial results and oversee the completion of documents presented to senior management.
  • Distribute results to various accounting teams, ensuring completeness and accuracy. Contribute to drafting monthly financial reports and coordinate needs and explanations with peers.
  • Prepare financial analyses and document explanations for variances (month-to-month and quarter-to-quarter).
  • Assist in drafting and implement policies related to accounting standards, while actively supporting and training colleagues affected by these changes.
  • Assist and coordinate with colleagues in preparing annual external audit documents.

Internal Control

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and managing a company-wide compliance program.
  • Assist in drafting control processes and mapping documentation.
  • Ensure the controls’ processes are kept up-to-date.
  • Collaborate and build partnerships with multiple business units within the organization.

Special Projects

  • Participate in various finance department projects, including the implementation of a new ERP system.
  • Actively contribute to completing various finance department projects, including the setup, validation, and maintenance of financial reports required for departmental operations


The ideal skills to meet the challenge are:

  • CPA designation and 5-7 years' experience in accounting
  • Knowledge of accounting standards and their application
  • Good understanding of the financing structure of a private company (liabilities and equity)
  • Ability to communicate and demonstrate accounting issues while being able to propose and support conclusions
  • Strong work ethic, characterized by a commitment to continuous improvement in a dynamic, fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrate leadership, flexibility and an analytical mind to manage multiple commitments and competing deadlines
  • Excellent analytical, influencing and negotiating skills
  • Excellent communication skills in spoken and written French and English
  • Excellent command of the Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
