At Iredale Architecture, we believe architecture has a key role to play in shaping our communities and in promoting sustainable practices. From our offices in Vancouver and Victoria, we offer consulting services we offer consulting services in support of the construction and renovation of cultural centres, schools, offices, retail spaces, firehalls, service yards, multi-family buildings and heritage buildings, ranging from very small projects to high-rises. Our projects are located throughout British Columbia, including with many First Nations. We are a mid-sized firm, with approximately 43 staff in Vancouver and 6 in Victoria.


We are looking for a highly motivated, competent, and effective Intermediate Technologist to join our team in our Vancouver office and support our Multi-Residential studio. The successful candidate will work independently under the supervision of various Principals and Associates.


Responsibilities

  • Assisting the Project Manager in all project phases, from concept through contract administration and close-out.
  • Reviewing and communicating current project status to the Project Manager or Job Captain at regular intervals.
  • Working with the team to ensure project success as measured by client satisfaction, work quality, profitability, and fostering team professionalism and collaboration.
  • Actively participating in the preparation of drawing packages for various permit submissions and/or construction
  • Resolving complex design and technical issues.
  • Coordinating consultant teams
  • Liaising with clients and Authorities Having Jurisdiction when requested
  • Preparing project code analysis
  • Reviewing drawings for Building Science accuracy, consultant coordination and compliance with local Building Codes and City Bylaw requirements prior to submissions
  • Participating in product research including building components and systems
  • Advance in-house technical and quality standards.
  • Prepare presentation materials utilizing 3D software.


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience with a British Columbia Architectural firm.
  • Completion of a certified Building Technology or Architectural program in a professionally recognized institution.
  • Extensive experience in building technology working independently to prepare design and construction drawings.
  • Experience in a variety of project types. Multi-residential project experience is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated expertise in tenant improvement design and construction administration.
  • Familiarity with municipal approvals processes.
  • Knowledge of the BC Building Code Part 3 and ASHRAE 90.1.
  • High level of proficiency in Revit and Photoshop.
  • Understanding sustainable design considerations.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with Clients, Consultants, and Municipal Staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills in English.
