Lead UI Developer

Toronto Area (Hybrid)

Long term Contract


Position Overview: As the Lead UI Developer, you will be responsible for leading the frontend development efforts, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement UI components and features for our ecommerce platforms. You will leverage your expertise in React, Next.js, and Node.js to create scalable and high-performance solutions that meet our clients' business objectives. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and guiding junior developers, ensuring code quality and best practices are maintained throughout the development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the frontend development efforts, from concept to implementation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality UI solutions for ecommerce platforms.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend developers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and user-friendly interfaces.
  • Develop reusable UI components and libraries using React.js and Next.js, maintaining a clean and modular codebase.
  • Integrate frontend applications with backend services and APIs using Node.js, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality.
  • Optimize application performance and user experience through responsive design, accessibility enhancements, and performance tuning.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in UI development, ecommerce technologies, and frontend frameworks.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers, conducting code reviews and guiding them in adopting best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in frontend development, with expertise in React.js, Next.js, and Node.js.
  • Extensive knowledge of ecommerce platforms such as Magento, Shopify, Adobe Commerce, or BigCommerce.
  • Strong understanding of UI/UX principles, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
  • Experience with RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and asynchronous programming.
  • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and related frontend technologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
