Senior Data Engineer

Our client is a government healthcare entity embarking on a large transformation project and looking for several Senior Data Engineers with experience in Microsoft (MS) Azure cloud-native solutions for business intelligence (BI) and analytics in addition to supporting digital health projects. This role is mostly remote but some onsite work is required. This could be one to two trips to the client site a month depending on client requirements.


Scope:


  • Detailed design, development, and testing of data acquisition, movement, cleansing, and transformation processes required for ongoing operations and enhancements to their BI Data Management platform.
  • Monitor and optimize the client's MS Azure cloud platform data pipelines to ensure efficient data flow and system performance, applying best practices in data engineering for ongoing maintenance.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and data SMEs to identify and implement enhancements
  • Conduct advanced data profiling and quality assessments to monitor the health of the data within the platform
  • Implement and manage data access policies ensuring secure and compliant access to data for new features and capabilities.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues and work with source systems to identify data for transport as required. Profile source datasets.
  • Retrieve data using methodologies including but not limited to SQL, NoSQL, and RESTful.
  • Prepare documentation containing high-level descriptions of data.


Requirements:


  • Close to 5 years of experience working as a data engineer for data integration, migration, or extraction in a data warehouse/data lake context.
  • Over 2 years of experience in roles related to digital health.
  • Recent experience working with Microsoft (MS) Azure cloud-native tools, including Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Databricks, MS Entra ID, and Azure SQL Database, and Delta Lake / Delta Tables stored using Gen2 Storage.
  • Experience working with Synapse Serverless and Dedicated Pools along with experience working with MS Purview, including Purview Atlas API and the Purview data policies and workflow modules.
  • Experience writing complex queries in both SQL and NoSQL syntax.
  • Agile project environment using Git and Azure DevOps.
  • Setting up Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines
