Job Title:
Technical Project Manager
Location:
Toronto, ON or Ottawa, ON (Hybrid)
Company Overview:
Altis Technology is one of Canada's largest independent staffing firms dedicated to placing IT professionals, providing recruitment services, and HR support across various sectors since 1989. Founded over 30 years ago, Altis Technology is 100% Canadian-owned and operated and has been consistently named one of Canada’s 50 best-managed companies. Our business is people, and locating top talent across all industries—and across Canada—is what we do best.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Project Manager to lead and oversee complex technical projects from initiation to delivery. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical teams and stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Short-Term Objectives:
-Manage and oversee external 3rd-party tools such as BambooHR, Tracker, Sana, Hellohire, and similar systems not directly attached to core systems.
-Act as the primary point of contact for managing product roadmaps, coordinating with engineering teams from external companies, and communicating concerns, timelines, and deliverables effectively.
-Ensure seamless integration and functionality of external platforms within Altis’s operational framework.
Long-Term Objectives:
-Support senior leadership in implementing digital transformation initiatives and system improvements, including the rollout of Microsoft Dynamics and other key projects.
-Collaborate with internal and external teams to advance Altis’s technical project management capabilities across both 3rd-party and internal systems.
-Facilitate the development and execution of training materials, stakeholder buy-in processes, and effective communication strategies for technical and business teams.
-Assist in the rollout and change management of AI-related projects, including coordinating data, training large language models (LLMs), and implementing AI functionality in collaboration with other companies.
Core Duties:
-Operate autonomously to manage competing priorities and soft influence across internal teams and external partners to drive project execution.
-Translate complex technical discussions into clear, actionable insights for business units, ensuring transparency and alignment.
-Coordinate with engineering teams to deliver software and application-focused projects while ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
-Escalate issues appropriately and identify key stakeholders to involve when challenges arise.
-Monitor and report on project progress using tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Asana, and MS Project.
Other Responsibilities:
-Travel annually (10% or less travel requirement).
-Serve as a product operations and delivery manager, ensuring seamless integration of technical terminology, coding knowledge, and business communication.
-Exhibit tenacity and strong communication skills to facilitate cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
-Experience: 5–7 years in technical project management or a similar role, with a proven track record of leading software/application delivery projects to successful completion.
-Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of software delivery processes, technical terminology, and basic coding concepts to effectively communicate with engineering teams and stakeholders.
-Project Management Expertise: Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Asana, or MS Project. Certifications like Agile/Scrum Master, PMP, or PRINCE2 are highly valued.
-AI Exposure (Nice to Have): Experience delivering AI-focused projects, including coordinating data or training large language models (LLMs), is a bonus.
-Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to translate technical concepts into digestible insights for non-technical business units, fostering transparency and alignment.
-Autonomous Work Style: Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
-Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and organizational skills to identify risks, resolve issues, and ensure successful project execution.
-Soft Skills: Tenacity, proactive escalation, and the ability to drive stakeholder engagement while maintaining clarity and focus on deliverables.
What We Offer:
-Competitive Compensation: A competitive salary.
-Comprehensive Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance to support your well-being.
-Growth Opportunities: Professional development support, including potential access to certifications like PMP, Agile, or Scrum Master.
-Flexible Work Environment: Hybrid work options with minimal travel requirements (10% or less, with one annual trip to Ottawa).
-Innovative Projects: Opportunity to work on cutting-edge initiatives, including digital transformation and AI-focused projects.
-Collaborative Culture: Join a supportive, people-first team where your contributions are valued, and innovation thrives.
-Canadian Excellence: Be part of a 100% Canadian-owned and operated organization recognized as one of Canada’s 50 best-managed companies.
