We are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our team in Toronto.


Position Description:


As an advocate of a business function and in the role of Project Manager, the successful candidate will lead various types of projects in order to drive growth, optimization and provide exceptional customer service


Job Duties/Accountabilities:



  • Overall management of capital funded projects, strategic projects, governance and local initiatives
  • Works closely with senior resources in other departments to define the scope of project
  • Prepares all necessary documentation to formally initiate a project & monitor project developments
  • Facilitates team meetings to communicate progress, status, issues, assignments and escalations
  • Facilitates work sessions, focus groups and organizes demo’s when required
  • Prepares project timelines (with input from work package owners) and assists with the determination of a project scope that is scheduled in manageable components
  • Documents project reviews, meetings, work sessions, action-registers
  • Preparation & facilitation of internal and executive presentations related to project scope timeline, activities, issues, budget and progress as required
  • Leads and collaborates on elaboration of business cases to support project scope and/or monetary investment
  • Manages project budget
  • Leads and monitors change management, communication and training activities related to the project
  • Ensures that quality standards are adhered to and that projects are completed on time, on scope and on budget.
  • Closely monitors timelines and project cost to ensure adherence with approved project plans
  • Variances to plan will be documented, communicated, reported, and escalated if required
  • Full client ownership and exposure is expected and must be managed in conjunction with the responsible of customer relationship
  • Manages the work efforts and budgets provided for third party providers and consultants
  • Ensures that scope creep does not result by enforcing change management procedures
  • Manages project sponsor expectations
  • Responsible for communication management (i.e. the preparation of project, client, and executive reports)
  • Escalates issues and risks to senior project management to ensure that possible workarounds or financial actions will be implemented
  • Assumes responsibility and ownership for strategic initiatives as well as funded projects, and has a great deal of customer contact and accountability
  • Leads post project activities and evaluations

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to work independently
  • Must be proficient in MS Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Have the ability to time manage / prioritize work under aggressive timelines
  • Advanced knowledge of products and services
  • Strong aptitude to recognize opportunities for improvement and take appropriate action
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver complex, multi-platform solutions
  • Ability to manage the building of non-standard complex customer solutions
  • Advanced efficiency in working in a virtual environment
  • Must have at least 5+ years of Project Management experience
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in a related telecommunication field
  • Good knowledge of the Project Management Institute’s approach to Project Management and demonstrated successful completion of an advanced Project Management course
  • University degree in a related field



Preferred Qualifications/Competences:



  • Experience with high complexity IT projects
  • Strong understanding and experience with governance and change management principles
  • Developed experience in creating / improving and documenting processes (mapping, charting, RACI charts etc.)
  • Excellent analytical, presentation and communication skills (clear, precise verbal and written skills)
  • Ability to identify business requirements and create or participate in the elaboration of process solutions
  • PMP Designation or equivalent
  • Visio process flow mapping skills
  • Utility experience is a must
