In support of this journey, Pivotree is looking to add an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to our executive leadership who brings a strong history with innovative technology and software-based products.


Reporting to the CEO, the CTO will be a key leader in establishing and institutionalizing a culture

of innovation that continuously adapts by applying technology to both internal and external business problems to deliver continuously improving business results.


Additionally, the CTO will be responsible for working with senior leaders to craft and deliver a single enterprise technology strategy in support of Pivotree’s business strategy. This leader will drive the technical standards and processes across the company, enable the efficient development of IP in support of Pivotree’s product strategy, and work with business leaders and customers in applying innovative technologies to uniquely solve business problems both within Pivotree and for Pivotree’s customers.


Pivotree operates in a matrix environment that rewards business outcomes and not activities.

A successful CTO candidate must have experience measuring success based on business results and must have well developed facilitation and collaboration skills to achieve success in this role. This role blends strategy (including decision making and execution) with innovation and product development and will work closely with the Office of the Chief Product Officer and Chief Information Security Officer, in partnership, to be successful.


Roles & Responsibilities:


● Be leader in transitioning Pivotree to a product oriented culture driven by innovation

● Develop, communicate and execute a long term technology vision and scalable technical

architecture in support of Pivotree’s Business Strategy.


● Develop a standardized approach to drive consistent and efficient development of products and

solutions across our global pool of engineering resources including a standard toolset for

gathering requirements, developing, storing and maintaining and securing IP, and, wherever

possible, automating all processes. Create a flexible design to accommodate product development at the various stages from ideation, prototyping, MVP and launch/scaling stages


● Deliver technologies and solutions on schedule, within budget, while meeting high quality

standards.


● Develop, professionalize, scale, and manage a software development methodology and toolset

based on industry best practices to be used across Pivotree to develop technical IP on time, on

budget, and with high quality.


● Develop and implement investment recommendations with ROI to drive innovation and

measurable efficiency / cost savings into Pivotree’s internal process for R&D, corporate

operations, and PS/MS services.


● Monitor and evaluate industry and technology trends developing recommendations for bringing

new technologies into Pivotree’s innovation ecosystem through documented investment

recommendations with ROI and ensuring the Pivotree architecture supports flexible integration of

best of breed partner technologies.

● Develop and mentor the next generation of Pivotree technical leaders and technical subject

matter experts supporting Pivotree’s development of technical IP and corporate IT, tools, systems

and products.


● Establish a clear interlock and scope of responsibilities between the CPO and established

product management methodology and the software development methodology.

● Support the partner vs build vs buy playbook for possible acquisitions by conducting technical

due diligence and/or planning for prospects.

● Engage with the business, customers, Pivoters, and other stakeholders to develop new ideas for

product development / enhancements.

● Provide technical ownership and leadership for corporate store maintaining and executing a

roadmap driving innovation and development on the platform.

● Collaborate with CISO to ensure the security principles permeate Pivotree’s Enterprise IT

strategy and products, policies, tools and processes are designed, deployed in support of 3rd

party audits.

● Develop and execute an internal IT roadmap that creates scale by leveraging enabling

technologies, such as automation, AI and ML.

● Execute enterprise projects as directed.


Skills and Experience:


● BS (or masters) in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science required, and an

advanced degree is preferred.

● At least 15 years of relevant experience, with 5 of these in senior leadership positions driving

technical product development for global enterprise SaaS product(s) sold to 3rd parties.

● Proven success in building and leading effective teams operating in a global delivery model with

focus on North America, EU, and India.

● Referenceable experience working with and applying Process Automation and/or AI/ML and

cloud agile and dev ops frameworks to solving business problems

● Evidence of relevant experience from startup through to scaled operations


● Must be an open-minded team player able to thrive in a fast-paced entrepreneurial

environment and fit well within the existing team culture while recognizing the large enterprise

nature of our clients.


● Proven leadership, team building and project management skills and abilities ... able to step into

the CTO role immediately and hit the ground running.

● Proven track record of establishing enterprise technology standards across an enterprise

● Proven track record of building software products to be sold to 3rd parties and managing them

through the full development lifecycle.


● Ability to develop and effectively communicate metric driven business cases in support of

recommendations

● Highly collaborative with the ability to be effective through influencing peers and decision makers

● Ability to jump in and “get their hands dirty”

● Ability to establish, maintain, and build relationships at all levels in a company

● Able to effectively analyze a variety of data types to establish leading indicators to future

problems and quantify impact and benefits

● Proven track record building, assessing, and developing technical leaders and talent into high

performing teams

● Demonstrated success in setting and translating financial targets into a strategic plan/budget

● Experience in omnichannel commerce, supply chain, data, or the technology that supports the

retail industry would be highly advantageous.

● Demonstrated progress in delivering successful product features in a timely and cost effective

manner on our core product initiatives (time to benefit and consumer adoption metrics)

● Clear product roadmaps and prioritized backlog with resource allocations on any and all

development efforts

● Defined (documented) technology strategy supporting Pivotree’s Business Strategy

● Established technology leadership team supporting both corporate IT and R&D

● Documented 12 month rolling technology plan to support the solution roadmap for key growth

products, including SKU Build.

● On time and on budget delivery of approved product recommendations

● All supported / active products with complete technical documentation based on current lifecycle stage
