How you will make a difference:

The Financial Analyst is a key role in the Finance team, having responsibility for financial reports which are submitted to the Finance Manager. This role will support the Finance Manager in preparing budgets and forecasts as well as the annual audit documents. The incumbent will complete monthly financial analyses and reconciliations and will also ensure that team members have accurately reported intercompany and tax related invoices and payments. It is expected that the candidate will also identify areas for process improvement to, and work with, the Finance Manager to assess and implement them.


What You’ll Do:

· Prepare monthly financial packages and supporting schedules, including major balance sheet accounts reconciliations

· Support month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations and variance analysis

· Assist with preparation of monthly/annual financial reports and analysis

· Conduct various financial analysis related to the ongoing financial operations of the organization

· Facilitate and complete year-end close procedures and assist with other statutory audits as required

· Assist in year-end close process, including liaison and preparation of audit schedules and working papers, responding to audit queries, and assisting in GAAP presentation

· Work with Finance Manager, to design, develop and implement effective internal controls over financial reporting in compliance with internal and external financial policies and regulations. Ensure proper documentation is in place

· Assist in the development and automation of monthly reporting using Business Intelligence tools

· Develop relationships with internal and external customers and work to exceed customer expectations for reporting and analysis

· Assist with the annual budget and quarterly forecasting initiatives including conducting meetings with operational teams to explain results and cost reduction analysis as necessary

· Assist in preparation of management presentations by performing in-depth analysis of business performance and corporate spend and highlight areas of opportunity or improvement

· Assist in ad hoc analysis and special projects requested from the senior management

· Prepare all sensitive and confidential analysis as directed


What You’ll Need:

· Relevant degree and 3 years post graduate experience in a similar capacity

· Enrollment in CPA PEP is preferred

· Minimum 2 years’ experience with general ledger functions and the month end close process

· Hands-on experience with medium to large size ERP accounting system utilizing a multi-company, multi-department, multi-currency hierarchy. (Infor Lawson would be an asset but not a requirement)

· Knowledge of the retail industry an asset

· Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUP and pivot tables and Business Intelligence tools (Crystal Reports, Power BI or similar)
