JOB SUMMARY:


A motivated Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) is sought to join an interventional pain management research team of physicians, imaging technologists, engineers, and clinical research specialists. The PDRA is a community health based, post-doctoral position with a one (1) year term, with the possibility of extending the position for one (1) additional year. Upon satisfactory performance, the Research Associate may be considered for a full-time role, contributing to the company’s technical and/or business functions in support of its clinical / diagnostics mission.

The PDRA will collaborate and support the mission of improving diagnostic imaging and clinical care in pain management. This includes the design and execution of research studies and projects involving image and data analyses, data science, maintaining awareness of the relevant scientific and clinical landscape, and dissemination of results to the broader scientific community. Day to day functions include working closely with clinical data with access to cutting edge technology such as dynamic digital radiography (DDR), 3T MRI, and AI analysis tools made possible through industry partnerships.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Assist with internal and external-collaborator facing scholarly activities including study design and execution, data analyses and curation, and statistical processing

• Co-author scientific work products such as results summaries, interpretative reports, white papers, and scientific abstracts and publications

• Assist with developing technical content for new projects, grants, and research funding opportunities

• Identify and engage academic partners, grant-funding agencies, clinical subject matter experts (SMEs), and industry consultants to expand company’s clinical / diagnostics footprint and impact

• Procure, organize, review, and synthesize scientific literature and keep up with the state-of-the-art in spine and orthopedic imaging and its translational applications to clinical management of back pain

• Create an anonymized imaging / clinical data bank

• Identify and pursue opportunities for collaboration with academic / research institutions, data registries, medical device and pharmaceutical industries, and healthcare organizations

• Ensure that all work is conducted with the highest integrity and ethics

• Understand company’s Quality Policy and support the achievement of the organization’s quality objectives and take corrective action when necessary to mitigate organizational risk

• Comply with company policies and procedures, industry best practices, as well as Good Clinical Practice and the Tri-Council Policy Statement on Ethics

• Ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


• PhD in biomedical engineering, life science, or related discipline from a top-tier university

• Strong track record of publishing high-quality work in peer-reviewed scientific journals

• Demonstrated high-level of scholarly activity and scientific independence

• Preferred: Experience with medical imaging and/or image processing (including X-ray, CT, and/or MRI)

• Preferred: Prior experience or research in medical devices or medical imaging

• Adept at acquiring technical knowledge through personal research and self-directed study

• Ability to plan and execute responsibilities with minimal supervision

• Effective time management and organizational skills

• Highly motivated and persistent

PLUSES:


• Prior research experience with an emphasis on spine or orthopedics

• Knowledge of routine analysis of spine and/or orthopedic imaging exams, especially quantitative / objective assessments

• History of collaboration with clinicians (e.g. radiologists, surgeons, etc.) on R&D projects involving advanced image analysis and interpretation

• Imaging and/or clinical data bank experience
