Reports to: Board

Duration: 3 - 6 months

Location: Toronto, ON

100% virtual (with some onsite visits and in person meetings)

Part-time 3 or 4 days a week


Our client is a not-for-profit membership organization serving health professionals. Their mandate has evolved significantly and has outgrown their current administrative support and governance structure. They need a seasoned professional to create a future state vision for the organization evolving and elevating the impact and value to its members and the organizations they serve.


This assignment will test your talents in re-creating a high-profile organization and ensuring it’s set up for success. The Interim will be tasked with navigating Board interactions and ensuring the right governance and operational structures and talent are in place to fulfill the organizations mandate. A strong business acumen, political acuity, and an ability to wear multiple hats are critical for this role.


Experience:

  • Develop and recommend policies, strategies, and objectives to achieve the current mandate set by the Board.
  • Create and present to the Board a vision for the organizations future detailing how it can support its members more effectively and the resourcing strategy to support this.
  • Implement and execute a vision, strategy, and business plan consistent with the purpose of the organization and aligned with the policy direction of Board.
  • Oversee the overall leadership and management of the organization.
  • Support the organization in renegotiating of funding models with the Board, hospital and the OMA.
  • Report to the Board on a regular basis on results vs plan, organizational needs, and recommended changes.
  • Work with the Board, to provide innovative financial guidance towards financial sustainability regarding current and future operations.
  • Provide recommendations to ensure processes for financial and administrative oversight are in place.
  • Develop strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and assess risks to the organization.
  • Responsibility for planning, implementing, managing, and controlling all financial-related activities. This will include responsibility for forecasting, strategic planning, legal, decision support, and overall management of support services.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the funding agency (The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care).


Qualifications & Education:

  • Proven experience working with Boards, committees, or governing bodies with knowledge of progressive and respectful governance practices.
  • Experience leading the transformation and modernization of organizations.
  • Extensive experience within healthcare, membership, or not-for-profit organizations at the c-suite level.
  • Strong change management and transformation experience.
  • Exceptional political acuity, communications, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience managing financial reporting and budgeting for ministry funded organizations.
  • Ability to analyze concerns or problems in multiple areas of expertise and model a problem-solving methodology.
  • Excellent interpersonal/listening skills to interact effectively with individuals of all backgrounds, experience, and education levels.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong integrity, ethics, and commitment.
