We are currently recruiting an experienced Brake Lab (Testing) Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry. The Brake Development Lab (BDL) is part of the Engineering Systems Development – Chassis / Body-in-White (ESD – CBIW) department. The selected candidate will be eager, hardworking and responsible for directing activities.


NOTE:

  • Onsite – 24/7 operations – Days, Afternoons, Midnights, weekends and OT may be required
  • Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date – 5% to Auburn Hills, MI for meetings
  • A valid driver's license as well as a clean driving record is required


RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Operation of two brake-end dynos and one full size chassis dyno including associated test setup and reporting.
  • Supervision of unionized personnel and duties associated with such supervision (safety, environmental, conflict resolution, etc.)
  • Other departmental activities will include taking and analyzing data using the Laser Vibrometer and Caliper Test Stand.
  • Other departmental activities may be required depending on scheduling, for example vacation coverage for the Corrosion Teardown lab.


REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering required from an accredited university. Preference given to candidates holding a Master's degree in Mechanical/Automotive/Electrical/Aeronautical Engineering
  • Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry
  • Knowledge of vehicle suspension and braking systems
  • Team Center and NX knowledge would be an asset
  • Knowledge of Link ProLink software suite an asset
  • Must have supervision experience (will be supervising 1-2 workers)
  • Previous experience using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) an asset
  • Experience working in a unionized environment
  • Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA
  • Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow up skills
  • Excellent written and oral skills
