About Our Operation
The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).
Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the R&D Metallurgy Advisor, you will be part of the Innovation department. Your primary role as a Geometallurgy Engineer is to provide expertise and support for the projects studies to implement the geometallurgy and geoenvironmental initiatives with the help of its mineralogy and geochemistry expertise. These initiatives could be under innovative program or regular studies. You will also contribute to coordinate the environmental geochemical studies for projects and support some innovation projects in the field of mineralogy. In addition, you will provide technical advice and training to the Agnico Eagle teams that need it. You will support the core scanning application to geometallurgy and geoenvironment. The role is strategic to Agnico Eagle and must be filled by a person that will have both the proper level of experience/expertise and the ability to work in a collaborative and autonomous mode under the guidance of the Director Technical Services or the Director Innovation.
  • Coordinate and review the geometallurgical and geoenvironmental mandates for studies;
  • Support the Geologist in Geometallurgy to improve the geometallurgical and geoenvironmental studies, i.e. criteria for sample selection and modeling of the geometallurgical and geoenvironmental properties;
  • Integrate innovative technologies like the core scanning into the geomet workflow;
  • Support the divisions and the Advisor, Environmental Management in the geochemical studies;
  • Manage and observe consulting companies for the geochemical characterization programs of studies;
  • Update the geochemical characterization guide as well as the geometallurgy guide with innovative technologies, and support the implementation of the guides;
  • Train the geologists of AEM to initiate them to the importance of geometallurgy and geoenvironment;
  • Lead strategic planning and communications to senior management and stakeholders to favorize their understanding of geometallurgy and geoenvironment;
  • Provide expertise to other Agnico Eagle teams, as required (specialized/innovative mineralogy projects, specialized review for Project Evaluations, etc.);
  • Support innovation project implementation in the field of geometallurgy, mineralogy, environmental geochemistry;
  • Support operation in the process mineralogy characterizations;
  • Train and coach post-graduate students;
  • Coordinate, report and follow innovation projects budget when in a position of project manager;
  • Provide representation as needed at technical conferences and key industry working groups if applicable;
  • Develop solutions that create value and lead to better decision making, as a professional expert with a strategic understanding of the business, guided by the corporate Advisors Environment & Metallurgy;
  • Support the R&D Metallurgy Advisor for other duties, as required.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Bachelor's degree in a field related to geology, environment or mining, with a specialization in geometallurgy, geochemistry or mineralogy (A Master's degree in one of these fields is an asset);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience;
  • Have a wide breath of knowledge and experience in aspects associated with geometallurgy, mineralogy and environmental geochemistry;
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate existing teams and operate in a network and multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environment;
  • An ability to manage innovative projects and work with scientific and academical communities;
  • A demonstrated familiarity and understanding of metallurgical and environmental technical issues associated with mining projects, including geochemical issues;
  • Ability to communicate in French and/or Spanish is an asset;
  • Proficiency in the use of the English language as you will be working in collaboration with other Agnico Eagle sites where English is the primary language.
Your Work Schedule
  • Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday. Possibility of 5-2-4-3 schedule;
  • Workplace: Possibility to work in one of Agnico Eagle offices closer to your residence in Rouyn-Noranda, Preissac, Val-d'Or, Mirabel or Toronto. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an AEM office and some days in telecommuting.
