Stationary Engineer

Lactalis is one of Canada’s leading producers of premium quality food products including milk, cheese, and yogurt. We are currently recruiting for a 3rd or 4th Class Engineer to join our team in our manufacturing facility in Winchester, Ontario which produces butter, cheese, powder, and margarine.

Lactalis Winchester facility is 1st class steam and refrigeration plant. This 3rd class position is mainly a maintenance role with occasional work as shift operator for Ammonia Refrigeration plant for vacation coverage. Candidate should have an interest in maintenance activities and able to work Monday - Friday 8 hours per days and 12 hours shift work as needed. Potential to move to complete shift role for Refrigeration operator and Boiler side.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Comply with TSSA regulation and GMP standards, ensuring Food Safe best practices
• Assist in maintaining a positive work environment within a fast paced, Plant environment
• Ensures All the maintenance activities in the steam/condensate system are addressed in a timely manner.
• Be proactive in PM work around the plant including pumps, motors, filters, steam traps .
• Learn the Ammonia refrigeration plant operation.
• Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with OH&S, WCB and Company regulations and procedures
• Must have flexibility to work while other team members are away on their booked vacation
• Perform water testing in boiler and refrigeration and interpret the results in a technical manner.
• Follow LOTO procedure in a safe and effective way
• A team player.
• String troubleshooting skills, problem solving and hands on work.
• Hourly rate of pay starts at $40.11/hr. Saturday Shift is 1.5 times and Sunday shift is double time.

Education & Experience

• Operating engineer 3rd class, Willing to consider a 4th class with significant progress towards 3rd.
• Refrigeration and maintenance experience is a strong plus
• Minimum High school, Trade school certification a plus
• Good computer skills and experience in HMI systems.
• Basic knowledge of automation and controls systems.

The salary will be 1.5 times the regular wage for Saturday shifts and double the regular wage for Sunday shifts
