Position Summary:

The Industrial Product Engineer will play a vital role for planning, development, implementing, and executing technical deliverables for injection molded products. The role’s responsibilities include establishing product requirements and specifications, work closely with our Innovation Lead, Product Designer, cross-functional teams, and internal/external engineering teams to contribute from concept ideation to product launch, refining at all stages for successful launch to market.


Product Development (50%)

  • 3D Modelling once design handed over from Product Designer
  • Engineer to the best capabilities for the product at hand
  • Conduct any testing and digital analysis to ensure product passes test requirements.
  • Research any areas which need special attention
  • Sourcing any accessories/items needed to enhance product performance.
  • Risk Management – FMEA – Failure mode sand effect analysis
  • Review each product in a process to maintain proper rate for validation – i.e. any issues that might occur
  • 3D simulations to validate product.
  • Review material science with Jason to make sure mold/material are harmonious without any foreseen issues.


Tool Development (40%)

  • Feasibility Check: Undercuts, Molding, Overall mold
  • Quotes from multiple tooler/molders
  • Part file estimates
  • Specs for all molders from Toolmakers- Weight, Size, Fit machines
  • Review mold from beginning to end with tool maker to confirm ready for 3D mold.
  • Toolmaker Engineer need to provide tonnage, specs of Molder (i.e. RAM)


Injection Molding (10%)

Internal contact support

Molding Support - Fitting – attend all fitting to ensure mold fit with inserts, co-ordinate all communication between tooler and molder.

Fitting: New Set of Inserts with existing tool

Troubleshoot daily issues with the following: Material, Machine, Mold, and Design.

Follow up with parts.

Tool Maintenance

Co-ordinating all communication between molders and tool shops

Product issues – troubleshoot.

Conduct all trial sand testing on issues.
