I hope you are a friendly, enthusiastic, and patient tutor with strong communication skills for K-12 students who want to work in a rewarding teaching environment to provide individual support to students looking to improve their academic skills. Vulnerable sector screening is required.


Responsibilities:

  • Tutoring up to 3 students at a time at different levels(in-person)
  • Teach and provide tutoring assistance using lessons, discussions, presentations
  • Maintaining a friendly and professional manner at all times
  • Prepare, administer and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress
  • Prepare teaching materials and outlines for courses
  • Prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help
  • Develop teaching materials and other resources for program delivery


Qualifications


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field
  • Fourth-year university students with extensive tutoring experience will be considered
  • Good knowledge of Ontario Curriculum(K-12)
  • Teaching certification is an asset


Experience:

  • 1 year+ experience teaching/tutoring at K-12
  • Strong English written and oral communication skills and ability to guide students' understanding
  • Ability to multitask and balance working with up to three students at a time
  • Experience teaching Test Preparation courses (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge), University Pathways courses and/or Business courses


Technology skills required:

MS Office(Word, Excel, PowerPoint)


Other Requirements:

Candidates with a driver’s license are preferred

Salary Range:

$18-$35/hour


Expected hours:

35 per week


Schedule:

Weekdays: 4-8 pm

Weekends as needed: 9 am - 5 pm
