Extropic Energy Inc. is advancing energy modernization and resilient power infrastructure through a 3D digital twin project approach. We work on projects like solar, EV charging infrastructure, and energy roadmaps that make our world better and more sustainable. We seek a passionate and highly motivated Microgrid Engineer / Engineer-in-Training to join our team. The Microgrid Engineer-in-Training will support the administrative functions of the business, including office administration, project controls and scheduling, health & safety, and marketing & business development support.  


Job Duties

This is a multi-faceted position:

  • Design of renewable energy systems and microgrids that incorporate distributed energy resources such as solar, battery energy storage, combined heat & power. 
  • Power system studies
  • Design and implement a real-time digital simulator lab
  • Programming of protection & control systems for microgrids
  • Testing & commissioning activities
  • Multi-discipline field reviews at construction sites
  • Engaging directly with contractors and clients
  • Use of 3D Laser Scanner
  • Other administrative duties as assigned.

Candidate Experience & Skill Requirements

  • Masters Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus in power systems;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in power systems or directly related field;
  • Experience with power system software such as EMTP-RV, ETAP, MATLAB/Simulink, PSS/E, RSCAD, or CYME.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to meet and adapt to changes in organizational priorities;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook);
  • Working knowledge of office procedures and standard office equipment;
  • Knowledge of business English, including grammar, spelling and syntax;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Class 5 driver’s license.

  • Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • Superior technology and computer skills. Quick at learning new software and embedded devices;

Location

This is a hybrid position based in Saskatoon, SK at 2555 Grasswood Road East.

 

Working Hours

40 hours per week. Monday to Friday.

The compensation package includes a competitive salary, medical & dental benefits and a cell phone allowance.
