Onware is a Houston and Edmonton-based company originally founded as a spin-off of the University of Alberta in 2002. We have extensive technical, data, analytics and software knowledge clients need, and decades of practice applying it especially within the construction industry.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We have an incredible opportunity for a Technical Project Team Lead to join our team and play a key role in improving the way our customers interact with their data.
As a Technical Project Team Lead, you'll be responsible for:
Product Management of Onware Software:
- Developing and implementing customer success strategy.
- Leading customer meetings/conversations, provide updates, review open items, and receive feedback regularly.
- Coordinating service contracts and annual renewals.
- Organizing regular customer check-ins and follow-up meetings to ensure proactive communication and issue resolution.
- Determining and managing the product roadmap.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and prioritize features and improvements.
- Working with HelpDesk to ensure efficient handling of complaints/requests and escalate issues as needed.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT FOR ALL CUSTOM SOFTWARE PROJECTS:
- Planning, monitoring, execution, and retrospective of custom software projects. Oversee the entire project lifecycle from initiation to closure.
- Ensure development tasks are completed on time at the highest level of quality. Oversee the overall quality and timeliness of development work.
- Understanding capacity constraints and determining resource allocation. Optimize team performance and ensure timely delivery of projects.
- Facilitating sprint planning and retrospectives Ensure the team follows Agile practices for continuous improvement.
- Tracking project progress and managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Identifying and mitigating risks in project execution.
- Ensuring development tasks are completed on time at the highest level of quality
- Overseeing end-user testing, coordinate with HelpDesk to ensure thorough testing and quality assurance from an end-user perspective.
TEAM LEADERSHIP AND COLLABORATION:
- Supervise employees and provide direction as needed, offer guidance and support to the development and HelpDesk team.
- Facilitating communication between the development team and other departments to ensure smooth collaboration and information flow across the organization.
- Performing peer code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices.
- Staying up to date with current technologies.
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar setting.
- Bachelor's Degree: Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or Related fields (e.g., Computer Engineering, Information Systems).
- Extensive experience in software development and project management.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
- Familiarity with software development life cycles (SDLC).
- Knowledge of programming languages and software development frameworks.
Certifications (optional but advantageous):
- Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) ,Certified Software Development Professional (CSDP) and/or ITIL Foundation Certification.
