Job Title: Auto Mechanic
Location: Johnstown, ON K0E 1T1, Canada
Salary: CA$35 - CA$45/Hour
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on light and medium-duty trucks, vans, and specialty service vehicles.
- Conduct inspections to identify and address mechanical issues per Ministry of Transportation guidelines.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in engine, transmission, brake, suspension, tire, and electrical systems.
- Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs.
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and initiate service calls as needed.
- Track and document maintenance and repair services accurately.
- Coordinate with the Fleet Manager to ensure timely vehicle servicing.
- Stay updated on advancements in vehicle technology and maintenance practices.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario health & safety standards and company policies.
- Communicate with the Fleet Manager regarding material purchases and approvals.
- Perform off-site service calls when required for fleet maintenance and repairs.
- Handle physically demanding tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing, and tool usage.
Qualifications:
- A valid 310S license or in-progress apprenticeship (5+ years of experience accepted in lieu of a license).
- Certification as an Automotive Service Technician/Truck & Coach is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in the heavy truck/equipment industry as a licensed mechanic.
- Expertise in diagnosing and repairing gas and diesel engines.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems (an asset).
- Proficiency with hand and electric tools used in vehicle maintenance.
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license with a clean driving record (commercial license is an asset).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to commute to Markham, ON for work.
