Operations Manager

Speedy Transport Group is looking for an operations Manager to join their Quebec City team.
The purpose of this position is to manage the day-to-day operations of a high-performance transport company and to lead the workforce to achieve safety, quality, service, and cost goals. This will be accomplished by taking a “hands on” approach to everyday operations and staff issues.
Position Responsibilities:
Ensure that the dock is adequately staffed and that personnel are properly trained to carry out (work in a safe and competent manner)
Work with the employees to ensure a safe work environment consistent with relevant legislation (including company policies)
Ensure that the dock is efficiently scheduled to meet customer requirements and that customer issues are resolved in an effective and timely manner.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, quality, budget targets and contribute to the growth of the company in a pro-active manner.
Oversee all routine and preventative maintenance and schedule any major repairs in accordance with production requirements
Manage the overall LTL Transport logistics of the company’s shipping and receiving
Manage Shift Operations Supervisors
Work closely with customer service to provide the best possible service for our customers
Position Qualifications:
Post secondary education
Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in LTL Transport
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Proven problem-solving skills and a demonstrated ability to achieve operational goals
Ability to work under pressure and handle several complex tasks simultaneously
Ability to perform shift work and available for flexible hours
Ability to take ownership of issues and problem analysis, decision making and resolution
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
Ability to listen and provide effective and timely feedback
Ability to work in a high-volume environment and meet deadlines.
Ability to rapidly learn and perform tasks related to the department or units’ regulations, policies, rules, functions, procedures, or processes
Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
