Electrical/Instrumentation Lead

BASIC FUNCTION
This role is an important member of the maintenance team responsible for maintaining and improving the facilities electrical, instrumentation and supporting our control systems team. Responsibilities include troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation issues, implementing control processes and providing technical support as required around the facility and camp. Expertise and attention to detail are critical skills to minimize operation downtime of critical systems.
PRINCIPAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and comply with the policies, goals, efforts, and programs of IPC's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Management System. Must ensure HSE issues are given primary consideration in all activities undertaken within area of responsibility.
- Ensures the safety of the work environment for all employees.
- Follow (SOP) standard operating procedures, including reviews and improvements to existing (SOP’s). Develop (SOP’s) if required and participate in scheduled audits.
- Is actively and responsibly involved in the Facility Competency Training program.
- Participate in our safety initiative and respond to facility emergencies.
- Support commissioning with providing E-House fabrication oversight, FAT testing.
- Work with operations to develop pre-commissioning planning.
- Monitor and safely maintain facility with a focus on ensuring operating equipment is reliable and maintained to IPC’s expectations.
- Participate in PM and procedure development.
- Execute the preventative maintenance program as well as maintain and repair vital electrical and Instrumentation equipment.
- Calibrate and maintain pressure, temperature, fire and gas, leak detection, flow switches transmitters and other monitoring equipment.
- Inspect, maintain, and calibrate a wide variety of equipment such as: variable frequency drives (VFD’s), pumps, motors, flow computers, Coriolis meters and other related metering equipment.
- Oversee third party service contractors as required during repairs and construction projects.
- Build positive relationships by working within diverse groups in a demonstrably efficient and flexible manner, while communicating effectively with all parties
- Participate in on-call and emergency response.
- Proficiency in CMMS systems, specifically with work order management and labour scheduling
REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Certified as both a Journeyman Electrician and a Journeyman Instrumentation Technician.
- Previous experience in the oil and gas sector working in a maintenance role.
- Strong knowledge of Delta-V, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems and other control system components
- Experience with Spartan AMS monitoring systems is considered an asset
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and maintain electrical and instrumentation control settings within an operating facility.
- Familiarity with and understanding of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The remote location of the facility requires camp based accommodations working a 10x10 rotating schedule, 12-hours per shift (including weekends and holidays). The facility is located approximately 35km North/West of Wandering River, AB. and 240kms NE of Edmonton, AB.
