Junior Open Pit Mining Engineer

Our Montreal office is seeking a Junior Open Pit Mining Engineer. This role is responsible for discipline project design activities relating to concept (OME), pre-feasibility (PCE), bankable feasibility (CBE), EPCM and turnkey mining projects undertaken by DRA of all mining projects, studies as well as contracts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;
Mining Design & Drafting
- Manages design of open pit mining resources.
- Manages the mine design tasks to ensure that mining designs are carried out in
accordance with client standards, specification documentation and relevant legislation.
- Ensures the effective review and approval of mining design and engineering.
- Develops improved work practices and ensures familiarity with new mining technologies.
- Undertakes techno-economic investigations.
- Provides mining inputs for mining feasibility studies.
- Prepares mine design documentation as per requirements for the level of study.
Project Management
- Liaises and co-ordinates with the client, project manager and engineers of other
disciplines to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications.
- Manages the schedule (time), cost, quality and scope on all mining contracts on the
project.
- Manages the mining site supervisors to ensure that mining contractors perform to
project safety, environmental and quality requirements.
- Advises, monitors and controls all mining site staff and contractors on behalf of the Site
Project Manager.
- Assures the client and project manager that the design, erection, testing and
commissioning of a mining installation, under his charge, complies with all safety and
statutory requirements.
- Acts within the framework of Mining contracts under his/her management.
- Manages high level of risks within the project in regard to engineering processes,
systems, equipment and infrastructure.
Requirements
- BSc Eng (Mining). BEng (Mining)
- Mine design packages such as Hexagon Mineplan / Minesight
- Good understanding of open pit mining methods, geology, survey, surface mining techniques
- Open Pit mining engineering site experience
