Forbes Bros Ltd. is seeking an experienced Field Mechanic (full-time, permanent) to support our Fleet team in Prince Albert, SK and surrounding areas.
The Field Mechanic (full-time, permanent) will be responsible for inspection, maintenance, and repair of on/off-road equipment working primarily in the field with the project crew and equipment and in the shop as required. The successful candidate will demonstrate prior experience of having worked within a heavy equipment shop environment in addition to strong problem solving, time management and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all components associated with our equipment as well as complete all work/training in compliance within Company Safety Standards and established safety procedures

- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical problems and conduct work without compromising the integrity of any equipment and meeting the demands of the projects in a timely manner
- Utilize, reference, and interpret work orders, technical manuals, service manuals / schematic drawings
- Conduct routine and preventative inspection tests, repair or replace parts with limited resources in remote locations outdoors in all types of weather conditions
- Operate and utilize various hand/power tools and diagnostic tools
- Confidently operate equipment such as overhead or mobile cranes and forklifts to assist in assignments as required
- Inspect and diagnose equipment and equipment part malfunctions and determine reuse, repair, replacement and/or corrective action to minimize the impact on operations and maintain safe operation
- Utilize and adhere to shop maintenance procedures and information systems
- Ensure cleanliness, maintenance, loading/unloading of shop, shop tools and equipment, storage.
- Maintain, inspect, repair and overhaul heavy vehicles, on-road, and industrial equipment such as excavators, wheel Loaders, backhoes, digger derrick trucks, aerial bucket trucks, trailers, and dump trucks
- Other tasks and duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- Provincially recognized Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Equipment or Inter Provincial Truck and Transport Mechanic is required
- Minimum two (2) years of experience as a mechanic/technician within a shop environment is required
- A current valid Driver's is required
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment leveraging excellence in time management
- Strong written, oral communication skills and interpersonal skills with ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting
- In compliance with Client and Project requirements, pre-screening and an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract may be required
