A key member of the team that leads the design and implementation of the inaugural analytics and reporting strategy for the Mental Health and Addictions Centre of Excellence. This specialist position contributes their expert knowledge, experience, and insight to improve the planning and performance of Ontario’s mental health care system through the development and implementation of critical foundational analytical reporting products, such as capacity planning tools, client and system outcome indicators, and performance reports. In this important and exciting new role, you will be responsible for the following.

Here is what you will be doing:

Supporting projects to align performance reporting, funding, and planning with clinical best practices

Providing leadership and expertise in analytic methods, data visualization, and stakeholder communication

Building and maintaining strong respectful relationships with stakeholders, staff, and senior leadership

Preparing briefings and presentations to senior executives, Board levels, Ministry, OH, and funded partners

Fostering a better understanding and application of plans and policies across the mental health care system

Designing and implementing data analyses to evaluate health care processes, patient outcomes, population health, and value-based health system costs

Planning and execution of all aspects of data analysis including developing analytic plans, assisting with data collection, manipulating, and extracting data, producing reports, developing and implementing advanced models and algorithms, performing complex statistical analyses, and creating documentation

Working collaboratively in a team environment

Developing innovative new data, analytics, indicator, and reporting products and solutions

Interpreting, synthesizing, and presenting findings for internal and external stakeholders

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Education and Experience

A graduate degree in a health system related field (e.g. clinical epidemiology, health services research, data science) or similar level of education and experience with the key areas of accountability

Minimum 3-5 years of experience, healthcare environment is an asset

Experience analyzing large data sets using tools such as SAS, R, Python, and Excel

Experience leading and facilitating stakeholder engagement sessions

Experience supporting large, complex initiatives, ideally at the provincial level

Experience linking and managing large datasets, conducting clinical, financial, and population-based analyses

Experience with Ontario’s healthcare data sets, including but not limited to DAD, NACRS, NRS, CCRS, OHIP, clinical registries, RPDB. Experience with mental health and social services data an asset

Experience supporting, developing, and implementing health system planning and performance products, such as health system planning tools, health quality/outcome indicators, and performance reports and tools

Experience in clinical and financial analysis to support reporting and policy development

Experience using Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI

Knowledge and Skills  

Highly motivated, results-oriented, team player

Strong understanding of the healthcare sector and experience in a healthcare system environment

Personal drive and a strong ability to self-manage

Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

Excellent communication (written and oral) including preparing and presenting planning, reporting, and knowledge transfer products, tools, and materials

Ability to effectively liaise and work with all positions in the organization

Proven ability to develop relationships with key stakeholders to establish trust, credibility, and respect

Critical thinking with an eye for detail

Consults with numerous teams, portfolios, and stakeholders to examine problems and find innovative solutions to non-routine problems where information and precedence are not readily available

Identifies trends and make suggestions for positive change in response to problematic trends

Must be able to understand the needs of diverse stakeholders to develop effective solutions and assess impact of recommendations for change
