In this role, you will:

Be responsible for chemicals, waste, and recycling handling storage and usage. This position will classify as per our policies and standards and in compliance with all regulatory bodies it impacts.

Manage and handle chemicals, recycling waste, along with hazardous and liquid waste programs across the mill on a daily basis.

Be responsible for training for recycling, waste, new employee training around Waste Hazardous Management Information Systems (WHMIS) and chemical awareness

Be responsible to develop plan to reach our 2025 and beyond goals for waste reduction at site.

Be responsible for the maintenance of paperwork and data entry for Waste and Hazardous waste manifests and documentation (as per Transportation of Dangerous Goods Requirements).

B responsible for visual management including workplace chemical signage (as per WHMIS)

Be responsible to lead audits internal and external and inspections and inventory management (Cycle counts, inventory adjustments) as well as creating and managing POs for waste, chemicals, materials, inclusive of safety stock.

Be responsible for unloading of Chemical Tanker Trucks in accordance with Transportation of Dangerous Goods

Be responsible for management of the spill’s prevention plan, which includes containment inspections, annual review

Be responsible for leading the Chemical and Waste Action Teams and perform risk assessments on all existing and new chemicals.

Organize and maintain 347/TDG training milewide.

Engage as required with the Ministry of Environment to ensure compliance with all regulatory

In one of our manufacturing roles, you’ll focus on winning with consumers and the market, while putting safety, mutual respect, and human dignity at the center. To succeed in this role, you will need the following qualifications:

Health and Safety Certification, and TDG Certified

Knowledge and industrial experience at the functional level in chemical and waste management OR a combination of appropriate educational credentials (Chemical/Environmental Technician/Technologist) and some industry experience.

Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

Strong organization and communication skills

Competent in regulations related to chemical, waste management (hazardous and liquid waste) and TDG requirements.

Forklift License a plus

High School Diploma or equivalent

Willing to flex schedule to support personal and business objectives.

Available for “call ins” to support business objectives.

May Require some travel.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Industrial environment (noise, dust, moving equipment, fluctuating temperatures etc.) May include prolonged periods of standing, along with bending, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 40 lbs, heights and confined spaces. PPE Requirements will include safety shoes, hearing protection and hearing protection other appropriate PPE as designated.
