Our fun and fast-paced Geospatial & Advanced Technology team is seeking a Geospatial Technician to join the advanced technologies team in Alberta. This role is a chance to demonstrate your skills and innovative ideas and receive hands-on experience with a company whose employee is at the heart of the organization. You will be responsible for the processing, preparation, and extraction of survey data captured using geospatial technologies such as 3D laser scanning, mobile mapping and UAVs.
We are searching for 2 successful candidates, one with beginner experience and one intermediate.

The team is based out of  Calgary, Alberta,  but the successful candidate could also be located in Edmonton.

What you will do:

Perform 3D feature extraction from geospatial data. Process geospatial data (terrestrial, aerial LiDAR and photogrammetry) using various software platforms e.g., Trimble Business Center, Leica Geosystems, and Pix4D. Examine field notes, sketches, plot plans, photos, scope of work, and samples of surveyed areas. Use standard survey practices to efficiently draft accurate as-built survey plans from information gathered in the field and office. Generate topographic surfaces based on processed point-cloud data. Perform volume calculations, surface analysis, heat maps, monitoring and inspection reports as per grading plan and industry standards. Perform QA/QC on processed data and complete quality check reports. Ensure that the quality and accuracy of all plans and processed data for which you have responsibility meet the GeoVerra standards before they are delivered for checking. Review project scope and verify deliverables, communicate any quality or coverage issues to the supervisor and field team. Work remotely from home if required and use remote access tools to support projects across the country as needed. Perform all assigned training and follow office safety guidelines. Work flexible hours during the week and occasional weekends.

What you will bring:

Diploma or degree in geomatics, engineering technology, or related discipline. Required experience in drafting and feature extraction from point cloud data (e.g. AutoCAD/Civil3D, MicroStation/TopoDot and or Trimble Business Center). Experienced in processing point-cloud data of one or more advanced technologies such as 3D laser scanning, mobile mapping, bathymetry, GPR, and UAV will be preferred. Knowledge of as-built 3D modelling from point cloud data (e.g. Revit, AutoCAD, Plant3D, Cyclone 3DR) is an added value. Experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related software in the preparation of survey related plans is an added value. An understanding of the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work to deadlines and see tasks through to completion. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficient in the use of the Microsoft office suite tools.
