Job Description

AECOM Buildings + Places Architectural team are seeking a CAD Specialist to join our team. This position can be based out of Ottawa with opportunities for hybrid work. 

AECOM Buildings + Places Canada (B+P Canada) is a vibrant and growing fully integrated team spanning architecture, all the building’s engineering disciplines, landscape architecture, urban planning, urban design, economics and asset management for design and infrastructure projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to: Transit and Municipal, Commercial, and Institutional projects, Justice, Education and Government.

Major Responsibilities: 

  • Performs both routine and non-routine, complex drafting assignments that require judgment in resolving issues or making recommendations. 
  • Uses applications to scale and edit assignments involving the use of computer aided design and drafting equipment and other graphics software (e.g. CADD software) to achieve set results and deadlines. 
  • Digitize or trace sketches or concepts from designers using CADD software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation. 
  • Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. 
  • Follows specific, standardized procedures to achieve set results and deadlines. 
  • Receives little instruction on daily work and general instructions on new assignments.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than: 

  • A University Degree + four (4) years of relevant experience in structural drafting. 

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, such as:

  •  Diploma/Certificate + six  (6) years of relevant experience in structural drafting may be considered.

Preferred Requirements: 

Experience as a structural drafter on port infrastructure a plus.
