Title of Course

VISA 2P96 Introduction to 3D Modelling and Animation

Concepts and skills of 3D modelling and rendering. Approaches to building models, using texturizing, lighting, cameras and rendering as well basic animation techniques. Relevant historic and theoretical perspectives on 3D and virtuality situating 3D within creative process and broader critical practices in cultural production.

Compensation

Effective September 1, 2024 - $7, per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14, per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties

Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article of the Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty).

Qualifications

1. MFA or equivalent is required.

2. Previous teaching experience of at least 2 years at the university level is required.

3. Familiarity with all instructional approaches to teaching digital media and animation, in particular creative development and integration of media and conceptual approaches is required.

4. In-depth knowledge of Maya software is required.

5. A record of professional activity in 3D modelling and animation and exhibitions demonstrative of standing in the art community is required.

6. Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level; and in the area to be taught are required by providing copies of recent teaching course/performance evaluations.
