Voyago is hiring a Health and Safety Assistant for our Health and Safety division based in London, Ontario for a temporary, full-time 1 year contract

Your Role

Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Assistant is responsible for the administration of the records related to collisions, injury, incident, accident investigations and other safety activities. The incumbent will support the Health & Safety Manager in executing the safety protocols. This is an entry level position geared towards someone with strong administrative skills and an interest in Health and Safety.

Key Responsibilities

Administration:

Monitors, updates, and tracks records of collisions, incidents, WSIB, and near misses to help prevent future incidents Document and follow up of safety incidents Maintains accurate records to ensure compliance with health and safety laws and regulations. Ensures facility, field audits, and truck audits are conducted monthly Provides incident investigation administration support as required. Assist with injury reporting and return to work process

Program Support:

Supports the Health and Safety Manager on the Joint Health and Safety Committee and day to day tasks related to Health & Safety including action emails. Provides incident investigation administration support as required Assists with injury reporting and return to work process

Reporting:

Ensures incident and collision reporting is complete and reported in a timely fashion; establishes appropriate follow-up Enters all collision and incident reports into analysis and assist with identifying trends in recent incidents and collision Provide assistance in minute taking, updating reports and obtaining statistical reports for safety meetings and follow up meetings

Scorecards:

Updates the scorecards according to the details submitted from each division as part of the due diligence. Ensures proofs are submitted for completing Key Performance Indicators as per the scorecard and assigning scores accordingly

Requirements

Your Profile

You have completed post-secondary or equivalent You bring an in-depth knowledge and understanding of all current health and safety legislation, regulations, safety programs, documentation and reporting requirements and safe work practices Your Bachelor’s Degree or Health & Safety Certificate program within Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field is an asset Your 1-3 years of experience in transportation industry is an assetYour JHSC Certification is an asset You have complete proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database software You have experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies and procedures You can provide a clean criminal record search
