We are looking for a Software Architect to join the CarteNav team in Halifax, NS.

The Position:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Web Application Architect to join our dynamic team. The Web Application Architect will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications. This individual will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our web applications meet business requirements while adhering to best practices and architectural standards.

Responsibilities:

Architectural Design : Lead the architectural design of web applications, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Technology Selection : Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools for web application development. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve our technology stack. System Integration : Design and implement integrations between web applications and other systems, including databases, third-party services, and internal APIs. Ensure seamless communication and data exchange between different components of the system. Scalability and Performance : Design scalable and high-performance web application architectures to support growing user bases and increasing data volumes. Conduct performance analysis and optimization to enhance application speed and efficiency. Security and Compliance : Implement security best practices to protect web applications against security threats and vulnerabilities. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR and PCI DSS. Code Review and Guidance : Review code written by development teams to ensure adherence to architectural principles, coding standards, and best practices. Provide guidance and mentorship to developers on architectural design and coding techniques. Documentation : Create and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design documents, and guidelines. Ensure that documentation is comprehensive, up-to-date, and easily accessible to relevant stakeholders. Collaboration and Communication : Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including software developers, QC engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders. Communicate technical concepts and decisions clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience (10+ years) as a Web Application Architect or a similar role, with a track record of successfully designing and implementing complex web applications. Proficiency in web application development technologies, including but not limited to HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and popular frameworks such as Angular, React, or . Strong understanding of web application architecture patterns, such as MVC, MVVM, and microservices. Experience with server-side technologies and frameworks, such as Java 16+ & Spring Boot 2.0+. Deep knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, caching mechanisms, and message queues. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, and experience with deploying and managing web applications in a cloud environment. Kubernetes experience, Cloud (such as AWS) or on-premise ( such as microk8s). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design elegant solutions to complex technical challenges. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders. Architecture certification such as TOGAF would be an asset.
