Hazelwood Construction Services, Inc., a division of The Hazelwood Group, is seeking experienced  CAD Tech Surveyors  for various projects all over Vancouver Island.

Union rates apply and all benefits are provided through the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 115.

Compensation

  • $38.24 per hour
  • Vacation pay: 13% of your hourly wage
  • Benefits eligibility: After completing 250 hours

Additional Benefits:

  • Pension contributions: $4.80 per hour worked
  • Company cell phone or $31.56 cell phone reimbursement per pay period

  • Provision of a Hazelwood pickup truck and fuel card for work-related use

Summary

The CAD Tech Surveyor will play a vital role in our surveying operations. You will primarily work in an office environment, handling CAD-related tasks, volume calculations, drone flights, building line work, and surface files for our data collectors. However, you should also be prepared to assist in the field during slower periods, making this a well-rounded and flexible position.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize specialized GPS-grade control systems and other surveying tools for precise measurements.
  • Perform volume calculations and manage CAD-related tasks efficiently.
  • Conduct drone flights for data collection and surveying purposes.
  • Prepare building line work and surface files for use by our data collectors.
  • Assist with on-site monitoring of construction activities to ensure work adheres to specified grades and quality standards.
  • Double-check and ensure the accuracy of grades and collaborate with the foreman to maintain quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Degree/certificate in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software and related tools.
  • Experience with drone technology and flight operations is a plus.
  • Field-level survey experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency with GPS-grade control systems and laser levels.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
