Reporting to: Director of Ancillary Services


Salary:

Classification 4, $24.49, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees also receive an additional $0.58/hour in lieu of benefits, as well as having 6% vacation pay paid out with each pay.

Description:

The relief cashier will operate the cash register and provide exceptional customer service to our patrons in either the campus bookstore or in the cafeteria. In addition to cashiering duties, the successful candidate will be expected restock shelves and display coolers, clean tables and work areas, gather and sort bottles and cans for recycling, make coffee and assist in food preparation and catering. When necessary, the cashier will provide assistance to both the Manager of the Food Services and the Cafeteria Cook in carrying out their duties (e.g., Cleaning, storing foods, etc.)

Typical relief hours are 3 hours/day will occur between the period of 9:00am - 1:00pm, Monday - Friday.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Successful completion of Grade 12.
  • Current Food Safe certification (Level 1) and previous experience in the retail and/or food industry.
  • Knowledge of operation a point-of-sale system.
  • Excellent communication and customer services skills.
