JOB OPPORTUNITY:  HYDRAULIC PUMP SPECIALIST

 

As Hydraulic Pump Specialist, you will be responsible for the hydraulic design and analysis of pump equipment and machinery in determining hydraulic acceptability, product and test specifications, design operating parameters, innovation, maintenance, and performance to meet company and industry requirements. This role requires Centrifugal and/or Reciprocating Pump Hydraulic experience.

 

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Review Customers purchase orders and design specifications to fully understand the requirements of the projects for CTO, ETO OE orders and AM order.
  • Review historical test results to ensure our impeller and casing volute designs are suitably specified / modified to meet the customer’s needs.
  • Establish the hydraulic modifications required to achieve the as-sold hydraulic performance.
  • Work alongside the Tendering / Advance Engineering group to ensure as sold performance parameters are captured at the order entry stage.
  • Define all performance, NPSH and mechanical run test requirements including advising recommended shop set-up and equipment to use.
  • Evaluate historical bad actors vs. as tendered pump selections.
  • Improve pumps passed test first time.
  • Perform all required hydraulic checks and calculation to ensure the product designed is suitably and will safely perform in the required application.
  • Manage the creation of Hydraulic Drawings and customer related document submissions.
  • Create the Hydraulic Review and Hydraulic traveller documents along with supporting BOM and Test clarification notes.
  • Work under the technical guidance of Senior Hydraulic Engineers, and others within Engineering and other functions in a collaborative manner to achieve project deliverables.
  • Support the Test Department by reviewing results, provide revised instructions and dispositioning NCR’s where problems have occurred.
  • Work on CARs, VAVE Projects or design centre related activities as appropriate.
  • Ensure hydraulic / test design compliance with appropriate international standards.
  • Interface and support downstream activities post design phase (shop-floor, test, commissioning and warranty)
  • Investigate Root Cause of hydraulic design related problems and provide guidance on updating the designs accordingly.
  • Ensure safe working practices and safe product design principles.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

    • Detail Technical Knowledge and experience with rotating equipment and engineered products.
    • Certificate of Hydraulic Engineering or equivalent experience (5-10 years)
    • Proficient in performance testing requirements & associated hydraulic design as it relates to API610 and API674
  • Ability to apply classical design techniques and use of tools to undertake the full range of Hydraulic Engineering Design tasks.
    • Interpersonal communication skills necessary to provide direction, support and consultation with employees, sales team, and customers.
    • Detail Technical Knowledge and experience with rotating equipment and engineered products.
    • Basic programming skills in Excel, Sharepoint, Power Apps and VBA preferred.
  • Experience in performance test data analysis and processing for compliance against specification.
  • Desire and ability to develop skills beyond current expertise.
  • Must be a forward thinker with the ability to drive change, push innovation, improve departmental efficiencies and reduce COPQ.
    • Proficient in CAD software applications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to set and hit personal and team deadlines.
  • An interest in self-development, innovation, and forward thinking.
  • An active and valuable team participant who puts team success before individual success.
