Supervising Producer, Audio

The Canadian Press is looking for an experienced, passionate, and creative broadcast journalist to manage the daily operations of our audio team, containing some of the most recognizable voices in Canadian radio news.

Based in Toronto and reporting to the Director, Audio & Video, the successful candidate will be a skilled news leader and editor with excellent news judgment as well as expertise in crafting impactful audio content.

They will understand and embrace new forms of broadcast newsgathering and audio storytelling.

Key responsibilities include:

Manage the day-to-day operations of CP’s audio team of newscasters and studio editors. Work closely with CP bureaus across the country to build a comprehensive audio file each day Edit broadcast scripts and provide feedback to staff Coach staff on broadcasting best-practices, with an eye to maintaining CP style and the highest quality audio content Attend and actively participate in editorial meetings Assist in the recruiting and training of new staff Scheduling a 24/7 news team Participate in long-term planning and special projects

Requirements:

· ·Experience in a management or managing editor role in a daily newsroom

· Previous experience as a broadcast journalist or newscaster

· Strong news judgment with experience in a breaking-news environment

· Excellent writing and communication skills

· Experience with Burli and audio editing software, such as Audacity, an asset

· Knowledge of Canadian Press content and CP style

· Understanding of the Canadian media landscape, including familiarity with radio and podcasting

· Understanding and awareness of the issues and most-important stories affecting Canadians

La Presse Canadienne est à la recherche d'un(e) journaliste expérimenté(e), passionné(e) et créatif(ve) pour gérer les opérations quotidiennes de notre équipe audio, qui comprend certaines des voix les plus reconnues dans les nouvelles radiophoniques canadiennes.

Basée à Toronto et relevant du directeur de l'audio et de la vidéo, la personne choisie aura la compétence pour diriger une équipe de rédaction et l’expertise pour créer du contenu audio percutant.

Elle comprendra et adoptera de nouvelles formes de cueillette d’informations radio et de reportage audio.

Les principales responsabilités comprennent :

· Diriger les opérations quotidiennes de l’équipe audio de la PC et de ses présentateurs de nouvelles et rédacteurs en studio.

· Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les bureaux de la PC à travers le pays pour assurer une production audio complète chaque jour.

· Réviser les scripts radio et adresser des commentaires au personnel.

· Former le personnel aux meilleures pratiques de diffusion, en veillant à maintenir le style de la PC ainsi qu’un contenu audio de la plus haute qualité.

· Assister et participer activement aux réunions de production.

· Aider au recrutement et à la formation des nouveaux employés.

· Élaborer les horaires d’une équipe d’information opérationnelle en tout temps.

· Participer à la planification à long terme et à l’élaboration de projets spéciaux.

Exigences :

· Expérience dans un rôle de gestion ou de rédaction dans une salle de rédaction quotidienne

· Expérience préalable comme journaliste radio ou présentateur de nouvelles

· Solide jugement journalistique avec expérience dans le traitement des nouvelles de dernière heure

· Excellentes aptitudes de communication verbale et écrite.

· L’expérience de travail avec Burli et d’autres logiciels de montage audio, tel Audacity, est un atout.

· Connaissance du contenu de La Presse Canadienne et de son style.

· Compréhension de l’environnement des médias canadiens, notamment de la radio et de la baladodiffusion.

· Compréhension et sensibilisation aux questions et aux nouvelles les plus importantes qui touchent les Canadiens.
