What YOU Will Do

We are currently looking for estimators to join our team in Lévis. You'll have the chance to be part of a team that's passionate about its work, and involved in estimating large-scale, complex structures. 

Under the supervision of the Preconstruction Manager, the incumbent analyzes tender documents and prepares conceptual, preliminary, control or detailed estimates, depending on the type of project, with a view to obtaining or responding to the contract for projects under management, enabling Pomerleau to carry out construction. 

Our estimating team plays a critical and strategic role for its division and for Pomerleau by bidding on and, ideally, winning as many key projects as possible, enabling our project teams to then go out and carry out the work on site. 

Carry out the quantitative evaluation of materials and labor for work deemed critical; 
Prepare the summary of quantities based on the plans and specifications, classifying them according to the standardized sections and functions of the trades involved; 
Participate in the selection of concepts, types of equipment and suppliers; 
Attend coordination meetings, site visits and assess the difficulty of the project to be estimated;  Research project-specific prices (material or subcontracted) following analysis of tender documents; 
Participate in the invitation of subcontractors and, if necessary, send them documents relating to the work involved and give them access to the virtual plan room; 
Ensure the content of all amounts received from electromechanical suppliers and subcontractors, and verify their compliance with bid document requirements during bid compilation and closing; 
Participate in and/or coordinate the various estimating participants on a Design-Build project;  Participate in updating and maintaining regular contact with subcontractors and suppliers in the company's database;  Suggest and quantify alternatives to tender documents to reduce construction costs of tendered projects; 
Support the estimating department and provide technical expertise for mechanical and electrical disciplines; 
Participate in the development of preliminary work schedules; 
Participate in bid closings; 
On construction management projects, produce estimates for projects in progress with incomplete documents; 
Verify and validate certain change notices for projects in progress. 

What YOU Will Bring

Technical diploma in mechanical or electricalengineering or equivalent experience;
Five or more years of relevant experience incommercial and institutional project estimation for a specialized subcontractoror engineering firm;
Experience in “Design-Build” type projects;
Excellent technical knowledge in electrical andmechanical building systems;
Excellent skills in reading drawings andspecifications;
Excellent knowledge of OST, Excel, Autocad-MEP andRevit-MEP software. This will be considered a significant advantage;
Excellent knowledge of the Eastern Canadian market;
Versatile,with excellent analytical skills;
Goodcommunication skills, both verbal and written;
Excellentknowledge of the local construction market;
Desire to be part of an estimating team for thelong-term and must be result-oriented.
