Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for Speech and LanguageTherapists (SLTs) to join our supportive team and facilitate effectivecommunication for all.

We have been commissioned by Halton Borough Counciland NHS Cheshire and Merseyside to provide the children and young people's SLTservices in Halton. This includes all elements of universal, targeted andspecialist services.

We are looking forgeneralist SLTs for this mixed post, however, where appropriate, we can offerdevelopment opportunities in a wide range of service areas including AAC, ASDassessments and dysphagia.

The successful candidates will join our Halton Teamand will work in partnership with children, young people, their families andthe children's workforce. You will be supported by our wider team and will beable to shape both the innovative services in Halton and our organisation as awhole.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will support assessment and interventions for children for whom we receive a request for specific services.

Our services are mostly delivered within Family Hubs and educational settings and often involve collaboration with parents, carers and the Multi-agency team.

Our team in Halton consists of: Speech and LanguageTherapist Lead; Specialist, Senior and Junior SLTs; Early Years Teacher; Speechand Language Therapy Assistants; all of whom are supported by a BusinessSupport Team.

Job responsibilities

Coreresponsibilities.

To provide a speech and languagetherapy services to children, directly and through support to their familiesand the multi-disciplinary team. Provide speech, language andcommunication assessments for children and young people in consultation with theirfamilies, the multi- disciplinary team and other SLTs and SLTAs. Keep accurate records and providewritten reports. Set targets for therapy and monitorprogress. Provide intervention on an individualor group basis as required. Develop and demonstrate SLT programmesand groups for pupils. Able to makeindependent decisions about caseload management. Hold responsibility for own caseload,working under supervision of a senior SLT. Work as a member of the multi-disciplinaryteam, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effectiveand efficient service. Liaise with other involved agenciesand with families to provide an integrated service. Support SLT student placements. Access clinical supervision within theteam via regular meetings, supervision, mentoring and appraisals. Be committed tocontinuing their professional development. Support the delivery of trainingprogrammes to others and contribute to the development of training. Contribute to the evaluation andmonitoring of services. Participatein audits of performance against defined standards, policies and procedures. Person Specification

Experience

Essential

Work or placement experience working with children, young people, families and the workforce as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) or SLT student.

Desirable

Experience working as an SLT with children, young people who have Speech, Language and Communication Needs, their families and the Multi-agency team. Experience working within early years settings and schools. Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 suite including Outlook, SharePoint and Teams.

Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Degree or Masters. Registration with RCSLT and HCPC.
