Position Overview

The dietitian is responsible for the clinical nutrition care of patients in the Acquired Brain Injury, Acute, Rehabilitation, Forensic, and Geriatric Programs. The dietitian plays a direct role in food service operations and is uniquely a member of both the Support Service and the Program teams.

Under the general direction of the Manager of Support Services, the incumbent is responsible for the nutritional assessment and care plan for approximately patients as well as training related to dietary and food services for program and support service staff. 

Experience

Experience in clinical nutrition with focus on mental health and acquired brain injuries; management within a health care environment; and adult education are assets Experience experience working in a healthcare facility, preferably in mental health is an asset

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition, dietetics or related area from an accredited Canadian university program or the approved equivalent accredited by Dietitians of Canada Completion of an approved Dietetic Internship Program

Certification/Licensure/Registration

Incumbent must be currently registered and in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba (CDM) Member of Dietitians of Canada is desired

Qualifications and Skills

Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Publisher, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint  Working experience using a dietary software, especially Computrition, is an asset Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required Strong organizational and time management skills required to set priorities and meet deadlines Demonstrated ability to foster positive work relationships in a team environment under minimal supervision and the ability to make independent decisions is required Knowledge of mental health illnesses and their nutritional implications
